About this Lightning Talks
At Ofsted we've been redesigning our registration services for childminders, nannies and nurseries. Registration is tightly regulated and some aspects are set out in law and hard to change. This session will cover how the team started to introduce service design to Ofsted, and take a look at successes and mistakes along the way. The focus will be on lessons learned for people who are redesigning existing live services, and practical tips for the kick-off stage.
About the Speakers
Lizzy has worked in 4 UK government departments, and has led digital communications and services in education for 8 years. She currently leads external service design and development at Ofsted. She is a passionate advocate for increasing gender diversity in the tech sector, and for calling out unconscious bias and inequality.
Rich is a service designer at Informed Solutions, a digital transformation consultancy, working across multiple public sector projects for new transactional services. This has opened his eyes to how many legacy services are made more complicated through jargon and ‘because policy says’. An advocate of user-centred design and better UX, he concentrates on putting the user’s needs first, and investigating the possibilities for changing business process to better meet those needs. He's always looking for ways to increase digital participation - and transform services for the benefit of both the public user and business.
