How do you design a process to prioritise (DDaT) work across an organisation when there is always something new, the goalposts keep moving and you want to avoid creating even more bureaucracy and burden for teams.
At the Department for International Trade (in the final days before becoming Business and Trade) we designed and launched a new approach to try and walk the fine line between empowering teams and providing leadership with the transparency and clarity to feel assured.
This leaned into a principles rather than process based approach and asked for a big commitment to open communication - up/down, down/up, side/side. Did it work? Well, it is early days but by the time of the conference, we will know!
