About the session

At Young Scot, we empower young people to become active designers of the services that are important for communities across Scotland. During this session, young people we’ve collaborated with will share their experiences and the impact they’ve had on government and public sector organisations. The young people and our co-design staff will then lead participants through a design session using our models and tools. This will demonstrate how citizen involvement can be so much more than user research or engagement.

Lisa Murphy

Lisa is Service Design Quality Assurance Manager at Young Scot (@youngscot) - the national youth information and citizenship charity for 11 to 26 year olds in Scotland.
Lisa’s work focuses on supporting young people to make informed decisions and choices and have access to opportunities, and the ability to shape services and decision making.
She is a designer with a master's in social and service design from the University of Dundee. In 2011, she joined Creative Scotland as a development officer for the creative industries, providing individuals and organisations with business and creative development support and facilitated funding relationships.
In 2012, Lisa supported Young Scot to establish the Co-design Service and has since built its national project portfolio and internal delivery capacity. Lisa’s current role is focused on developing the next evolution of the Co-design Service, to ensure young people in Scotland can participate more effectively in society, design services and policy and share power as systems changers and influencers - locally, nationally and globally.
