Increasing public participation in the policymaking process: a valuable, but risky endeavour?

Human-centred design advocates that designers have a deep understanding of - and empathy with - the people they design for. But how does this translate to policymaking? Surely it’s about policymakers themselves engaging meaningfully with the people affected by their policies. We’ve been supporting policymakers for nearly 3 years now to do just that. But it’s been far from straightforward. In this session, we’ll share our experiences - the real challenges, the successes and most importantly, our top tips on overcoming policymakers’ fears.
