About the session
Cancer screening in England is delivered by a number of healthcare governing bodies. Each organisation has designed an aspect of the end-to-end service, for example the forms used by clinicians or the letters and leaflets sent to the public. Since no one body owns the screening service as a whole, the challenge to redesign it is politically and technologically complex. This session will delve into the redesign of one of the cancer screening services, cervical screening. This was the first time all organisations involved in delivering cervical screening had looked at improving the service as a whole through a human-centred design lens. We will discuss how we overcame the challenges such as policy, technology and user experience for all of the providers in the system that delivers a service for over 4 million people a year.
