About the session
Local Welcome brings together local people and refugees to cook and eat lunch. It’s like putting on a small play every Sunday. We were determined to avoid the trap of designing a beautiful fantasy service that later failed to work in reality. Instead, we designed experiments to face down our riskiest assumptions, one by one, in the real world. It was scary and painful. Most things were broken, most of the time. But it’s changed how I approach design forever.
